words

frank zappa filling the minister of semantics shoes and taking on political media crap.
it is about words. all about words. whether to say the wrong thing or the right thing, and that very thing has changed over the years. it has changed thousands upon millions of times, and it will continue to change. what we [...]

moving pictures

out of all the random refuse that comes in the form of film these days, here a few i might actually like to see… or at least rent:

the motel
stranger than fiction
half nelson
transformers
running with scissors
the illusionist
the quiet
american hardcore
the science of sleep
tmnt
babel
the fountain
children of men
rennaissance
the prestige

my very excellent mother just served us nine…

farewell pluto. the universe will never be the same. you were one of the coolest planets. you travelled the farthest, but were not too greedy to let neptune join in the fun. though i often used to confuse your name with the disney character, i knew you were unique. a mighty manager of things ancient [...]

colorado, wtf?

a seventh grade geography teacher was put on administrative leave because he displayed flags of countries other than the u.s. in his classroom. um… geography? hello?! the study of the world, locations, climates, environments, etc. although it does not necessarily include culture, i would not be the least bit surprised to find foreign flags in [...]

new digs, old town

no wonder i stopped watching tv.

my life with the ipod cult

ok. so the ipod came. it seems to be working just fine. i haven’t tried using the dock with it yet. i might be developing a pavlovian reaction. i will most likely be getting a lot more use out of this thing in the coming months, especially in the absence of my main partner in [...]

let’s try this again, shall we?

“I ain’t going nowhere”

so gas prices are climbing again. couldn’t someone at bp have had the forethought to do maintenance on their alaskan pipelines before they had to shut the entire operation down? seriously. now that i have three days until payday, i’m not sure i’ll be able to get gas before then. when you’re driving 100 miles [...]

this is the end

no, i’m not committing suicide, or listening to the doors.
i’m talking about a recent 3-part series on the end of radio, television and print media as we know it, by the canadian broadcasting corporation, a company which makes a point of keeping on top of cultural phenomenon and reporting it in a method inline with [...]
